The following letter is written in Montaignean, addressed to the Society's caretaker, and is dated prior to the last meeting of the Explorer's Society. Who knows when it was delivered. Spelling is in-context.
My friends and colleges,
I have consulted with navigators, omen-seekers, merkants and meteo-prognostikantors. From their advices, I concluded that if this expedition is to reach the Crescent and return i success, it is imperative that we set out now.
For this reeson. I will not see you at the next meeting. I wish to agane thank our Prince and our other anonimouse investors for there fynansing. And jeneroucity.
My apologees for this abrupt deparchure. I hope to see you all in by Kristmas.
